Poetry as Imperial propaganda

This British produced “E. Mack” of London England postcard with artist initials “C.T.N.”   on the card’s center right being more probable rather than those of the poet’s is representative of the simple but clearly intended propaganda purpose products during the war.  The 10th Battalion, CEF did indeed suffer grievous casualties at the 2nd. Battle of Ypres in the spring of 1915 relative to both other CEF units engaged in this battle and overall throughout the conflict.  “Literary and visual manifested Flag patriotism” which the publisher combines in this Imperial deifying card was immensely popular and especially pervaded home front war cultures.
